SCIENCE DEPARTMENT TECHNICIAN
Campus des Nations – Secondary School
Provide technical leadership for the science department and manage the team of technicians to deliver high-level pedagogical and operational support.

Role objective:
Provide technical leadership for the department and manage a team of technicians, focusing on four key areas:
- Team management: Supervise and coordinate the team of technicians on a daily basis.
- Pedagogical support: Prepare, set up, and facilitate practical experiments and classroom demonstrations.
- Operational management: Oversee the maintenance, storage, repair, and tracking of equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Innovation & Problem-solving: Design and implement practical technical solutions tailored to the department's needs.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
Team Management & Collaboration:
- Work under the supervision of the Head of Department and communicate with them regularly.
- Supervise and coordinate the team of technicians on a daily basis.
- Collaborate with teachers to support their requests and notify technical services of any issues requiring intervention.
Pedagogical Support & Laboratory Safety:
- Manage routine laboratory equipment and prepare science practicals, with a particular focus on preparing chemicals and materials for biology instruction (General Science, IB, and Maturité levels).
- Provide technical support to teachers and students during individual work—such as Extended Essays and internal assessments—while ensuring the safe operation of equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations, including demonstrating equipment usage and providing in-class technical support.
- Assist with student supervision when necessary.
Operational Management & Maintenance:
- Oversee the development, installation, adjustment, cleaning, storage, and disposal of departmental equipment and materials.
- Carry out necessary maintenance tasks and ensure laboratories are tidy, welcoming, and ready for use.
- Conduct regular inventory checks of resources.
Administrative & Budgetary Management:
- Manage the departmental budget regarding stock control, ordering, invoicing, etc.
- Manage data effectively and maintain relevant records in computer systems.
- Keep records up to date regarding the rental or loan of departmental facilities and equipment.
- Ensure that all administrative tasks, checks, and documentation are completed regularly, accurately, and on time.
Who we are looking for:
Skills and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Chemistry or another scientific field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the education sector or science teaching. Strong language skills in French and English (spoken and written).
- Excellent proficiency in IT tools (particularly the Google Workspace/Apps environment).
- Teaching experience or training is an asset.
Personal qualities:
- Strong sense of service, communication, and responsibility.
- Leadership, team spirit, and the ability to work independently.
- Organizational skills and rigor in meeting deadlines.
