CHESS TEACHER 

La Châtaigneraie Campus - Part-time – 1 hour per week

 

Develop strategic thinking and sportsmanship in our Primary students through the art of Chess.

Chess is a powerful tool for developing concentration, logic, and self-agency. As our Chess Teacher for the Primary school, you will lead our extra-curricular activity by creating a bridge between rigorous strategy and playful engagement. Your role is to ensure that every student, regardless of their starting level, finds joy in the game while developing the "future-ready" global competences that define the Ecolint mission.


Your role and responsibilities:

  • Teach Chess to Primary students, balancing a rigorous lesson structure with a spirited, playful atmosphere.
  • Exercise organizational mastery to design structured weekly lessons that remain fun and engaging.
  • Implement varied teaching strategies (such as levelled workbooks or interactive mini-games) to manage a diverse classroom of beginners and advanced players.
  • Foster an environment of positive sportsmanship and fun, ensuring that every student makes tangible progress.
  • Coordinate with the Culture & Leisure team to ensure the smooth running of the activity.

     

Who we are looking for:

You will thrive in this role if you possess:

  • You are a strong Chess player with a deep understanding of the game’s mechanics and strategies.
  • Previous experience teaching Chess to children (Primary age) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in both English and French is required to effectively communicate within our diverse school community.
  • The ability to simplify complex concepts and maintain an orderly yet enthusiastic environment.
