SERVICE AS ACTION COORDINATOR

MYP (Decharge 5 periods)

 

The MYP service as action coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating and coordinating service learning activities within the Middle Years Programme. The service action coordinator is responsible for guiding students through the process of engaging in meaningful service experiences that align with the MYP philosophy.

Responsibilities

●    Collaborate with all departments to integrate meaningful service learning opportunities into the curriculum. 
●    Plan and organize age appropriate and curriculum relevant service action projects. This may require liaising and developing relationships with the local community, local and international organisations.
●    Support students in the process of identifying meaningful action service, how to plan for projects and reflecting on their progress. These opportunities should align with the MYP learning outcomes for service.
●    Staying informed and trained regarding best practices in service action and support staff members development, as part of a whole school professional development plan. 
●    Communicate with a variety of audiences in a timely fashion, such as students, staff, parents and local / international organisations. 
●    Ensure a school system is developed and followed in terms of documentation, record keeping of the various projects and opportunities undertaken by students. 
●    Help the continued work on fostering a school culture where service helps students become more independent, caring and active members of the school community.
●    Build on work done in the PYP on action, and help lead students towards the CAS requirements in the Diploma or Careers programmes service requirements. 

 

Candidates requirements

●    Excellent knowledge of the Service Action requirements and approaches for the MYP
●    Student centred
●    French language (B1) or ability to converse in French. 
●    Proficient ICT skills such as being a Google Educator Level 1 as we are a school that uses Google Workspace for Education as our core digital tools.
●    Ability to work with a variety of teams across the school.
●    Be willing to support the mentor program where required.
