Founded in 1924, the Ecole Internationale de Genève (Ecolint) welcomes 4,500 students aged 3 to 18, representing more than 130 nationalities. Foundation Communications Officer 

Part-time 80% (with potential full-time evolution)

 

Key deliverables and responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Communications, the Communications officer will be expected to:

  • Create and edit compelling and informative digital and print content for our websites, newsletters, social media platforms, films and brochures.
  • Proofread and edit digital and print content to ensure accuracy,  up to date information, coherence, and adherence to our brand guidelines.
  • Translation support where appropriate.
  • Represent the Communications department on our three campuses, attending meetings as appropriate to be able to capture what is happening, including at such events as theater productions, Guest Speaker Series, Centenary events and major school projects with particular attention to the exceptional displays of learning and teaching which can be shared to reinforce the positive image that attracts families to Ecolint.
  • In partnership with School Principals, administrative teams and the Communications department, oversee publication of weekly school newsletters (text writing/editing, layout, choice of images).
  • Coordinate communications plans ensuring the flow of work in a timely fashion to relevant central team members (graphic design, print shop).
  • Act as a Parents Teachers Associations (PTA) liaison with the Communication team.
  • Ensure first impressions of campus for visitors are on-brand: e.g. physical appearance of receptions, information screens, posters in public areas where the key messages of the school’s identity should be communicated.
    Take pictures and videos at events and collaborate with professional photographers and videographers to create rich content.
  • Maintain a high quality database of photographic images, including marketing permissions/image rights, in line with our Child Protection guidelines.
  • Liaise with the Admissions team to ensure that new families are made to feel welcome during the application and onboarding process.

     

Candidates requirements:

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail with the ability to produce error-free content.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexibility to move across campuses in Geneva and Vaud.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and the ability to create engaging content for different channels.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams as well as on the post holder’s own initiative.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills to develop innovative and engaging website content.
  • High personal standards and strong commitment to quality.
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, willing to learn new skills, self-motivated and open-minded.
  • Tact and diplomacy and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

  • Educated to first degree level.
  • Excellent oral and written English (essential) and very good spoken and written French (C1 level or better).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to collaborate with a team.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in copywriting and production of communication materials across all media, both print and digital.
  • Knowledge of web design principles and user experience best practices.
  • Strong IT skills and proficiency in Content Management Systems (CMS) and web publishing tools, social media platforms, MS Office products (PowerPoint, Word) and Google apps.   
  • Good understanding of page layout and ideally some knowledge of graphic design software e.g. Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator. Ability to lay out posters etc using templates in professional graphic design packages and PowerPoint.
  • Ideally, an accomplished photographer.
