World languages programme

With students from around 140 nationalities, speaking 80 mother tongues, Ecolint is the most international school in the world.  Whilst English and French are the key languages of instruction, we encourage students to maintain their proficiency in their mother tongue.

Which languages are available?

Currently, we offer Arabic, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish..

Wherever possible we will undertake to offer any language which is requested, provided we can find someone qualified to teach it.

What are the advantages?

Mother tongues are fragile and easily lost in early years.

Speaking one's mother tongue well:

  • gives access to one's cultural identity
  • supports cognitive development
  • enhances children’s linguistic and educational development.
  • facilitates the transfer of skills and concepts to the working languages of the school.

Most of these languages are taught on our campuses outside the curriculum, from primary to IB level.

Lessons take place in the afternoon, after the regular lessons.
