Call for Candidates for the Next
Elections to the Governing Board

The Governing Board is composed of 12 elected members and up to 4 co-opted members.

For the 2024 election cycle, there are five (5) open seats for elected members: three (3) seats for a four-year term, one (1) seat for a two-year term and one (1) seat for a one-year term (end of the mandate of resigning Board members as per the Regulations of the Foundation of the International School of Geneva Art. 2.4). When the votes are counted, the candidates in first, second and third place will be given four-year terms; the candidate in fourth place a two-year term and the candidate in fifth place a one-year term, subject to campus representation criteria as per the regulations.

Who can stand for election?

Anyone can stand for election except for Ecolint employees, their families including registered partners, and Board members who have already served for eight years (see Article 2, page 4, of the Regulations of the Governing Board of the Foundation of the International School of Geneva)

What profiles are sought?

The Ecolint Governing Board is open to candidates of all talents and backgrounds, without limitation. It is advantageous to the Foundation to have a multidisciplinary Governing Board that includes members with relevant competencies that align with the strategic objectives and goals of the Foundation.

Skills that would be particularly important for the Board include fundraising, governance review, sustainability, use of technology and data as a means to drive transformational change, international pedagogy, architectural design and planning, and strong relationships with the local community.

These profiles will complement the existing competencies of the Board as it strives to deliver on a multi-year financial strategy, governance reform and a successful celebration of Ecolint’s centenary.

The Board is committed to strengthening diversity, equity and inclusion in its membership and across the Foundation. Candidates whose personal experiences, knowledge and skills can support this aspiration are especially encouraged to stand for election.

What is the role of the Governing Board?

The Governing Board is the highest authority of the Foundation. It manages the strategic affairs of the Foundation and represents the school externally. It appoints and evaluates the Director General who is the Chief Executive and the Educational Leader of the Foundation. The Governing Board is the guardian of the Foundation’s mission to provide a high quality international education. It must ensure the sustainability of the Foundation for future generations. It also ensures adherence to the principles of equality and solidarity defined in the Foundation’s Charter. The schools under the Foundation exist for the sake of their students and the Foundation is committed to a continual re-evaluation of their needs in the light of social, economic and cultural change.

What can you expect if you are elected?
