La Chataigneraie's Ecolint Community Orchestra

La Chataigneraie's Ecolint Community Orchestra is dedicated to nurturing and facilitating a community appreciation for music. Open to International School of Geneva students and the community at large, the orchestra's aim is to support motivated adult and student musicians in the development of their musical potential through ensemble work and the performance of a wide variety of symphonic music.

  • Adagio un poco mosso from the Piano concerto no. 5  Op. 73 by L.v. Beethoven
  • Slavonic Dance No. 4 in F major, Op. 46 (Sousedská) by A. Dvorak
  • Pavane in F-sharp minor, Op. 50, G. Fauré
  • Slavonic Dance No. 8 in G minor (Furiant) Op. 46 by A. Dvorak

La Châtaigneraie Community Orchestra (LCCO), International School of Geneva is looking for new members to participate in its Spring Concert 2013.   Open to the Geneva community,  LCCO is a teaching orchestra composed of young students through adult musicians.  No fees are required for orchestra membership.   Each orchestra section is headed by  professional musicians and teachers creating a high level of performance. Members may choose to participate in all  or selected repertoire. Participation in LCCO can be counted as a CAS activity supporting students’ academic progress as well as their musical development.  Rehearsals begin in April on Thursdays from 19h15-21h15.

Membership

Membership in the International School of Geneva, Community Orchestra, La Châtaigneraie is open to  adult and student string, woodwinds and brass instrumentalists. Students must be registered by their private teacher.  Learning of the Orchestra repertoire by Music School students will be supported in their private lesson time.

L'CCO Conductor, Flavius Filip

Born in Romania, Flavius Filip began his musical studies at a young age.  His talent was quickly demonstrated by winning First Place in the Concours National de Clarinette in Romania in 1997, 1998 and 1999. In 2000, Flavius was awarded Second Place in the Concours International de Musique, ‘Jeunesse Musicale’ in clarinet.

Flavius Filip continued his musical studies on a full scholarship, at the Conservatory of Music, Geneve, between 2001 and 2011.  After receiving a certificate d’etudes supérieures de solfège and a certificate d’etudes supérieures d’harmonie, he received his diploma in choral conducting in the class of Michel Corboz and a diploma in orchestra conducting in the class of Laurent Gay.

Flavius Filip has conducted chorus in Romania, United States and Geneva.  He is currently the Musical Director of l’Eglise Evangélique Internationale de Genève and the conductor of the Orchestre de Chambre de Carouge.
