EXTENDED SUPPORT PROGRAMME ASSISTANTS FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS (full-time)

The assistants work as part of a small specialist team providing an intensive support programme for a group of eight students. Each student is a member of a mainstream class but may spend between 40% and 90% of the time with the Extended Support Programme.

EXTENDED SUPPORT PROGRAMME ASSISTANTS FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS (full-time)
 
The assistants work as part of a small specialist team providing an intensive support programme for a group of eight students. Each student is a member of a mainstream class but may spend between 40% and 90% of the time with the Extended Support Programme.
 
Main responsibilities:
Extended Support Programme Assistants:
work with individual students, or very small groups, under the supervision of the specialist teacher,
support individual students in the mainstream class in collaboration with the class teacher,
create adapted pedagogical material,
take an active role in weekly team meetings, meetings with parents  and student IEP meetings,
follow an individualised professional development programme,
participate as playground supervisors.
 
Requirements:
Interest in and three years experience of working with children.
Minimum one year experience working with children with special needs.
Tertiary education and a recognised qualification in special needs or related area. 
Fluency in French or English with an excellent knowledge of the other language.
