La Châtaigneraie has been part of the International School of Geneva since 1971. Our campus lies in the Canton de Vaud, in Founex, 20 minutes from Geneva and 40 minutes from Lausanne. We look over Lac Leman with stunning views of the Alps and the Jura.
From age five, the school provides a stimulating and varied academic programme in an international and bilingual environment. Our aim is to develop the full academic and personal potential of each student. This experience is shared with 1170 students representing the wide cultural and linguistic diversity of our school. All programs lead toward the International Baccalaureate Diploma or the Maturité Suisse at age 18-19.
A Campus in the country
The campus comprises four main buildings and a sports centre on a site of 5.5 hectares situated in the heart of the countryside. Students enjoy a wide range of facilities including the Multimedia Centre, theatre, science and language laboratories, art and music studios and cafeteria. We also offer a transport service.
An expanding campus
The new sports centre opened at the end of October. In addition to the old sports hall and the synthetic football field, this brand new centre provides a 965m2 gym, a 300m2 multipurpose room, a public gallery with seating and a bar as well as 6 changing rooms with showers.
A study is under way for the construction of the new primary school as part of our strategic plan 2008-2011. A PPA will be submitted for public approval in December of this year for the construction of a new primary school building which should welcome 650 students. They also foresee the creation of a bilingual programme. Meanwhile other studies are being carried out to allow the conversion of the existing primary building to suit secondary school needs and to finally rid our campus of the prefabricated blocks.
