John Tarpey has worked in journalism and public affairs for more than 25 years in the United States, the Middle East, South Asia, and Europe, and currently is Director of Communications at the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva.
Throughout his career Mr Tarpey has been involved in education, as a university lecturer in the U.S., a Fulbright Professor in Pakistan, a board member of the American Fulbright Foundation in Morocco, and in various capacities at international schools in several countries. He was a 2008 Faculty Fellow at the Salzburg Global Seminar.
Elected to the Foundation Governing Board in 2006, he serves as Treasurer of the Governing Board, Chairman of the Finance Committee, and member of the Executive and Strategic Planning Committees. Mr Tarpey chaired the La Châtaigneraie Campus Development Group (CDG) from 2002 through 2004.
Mr Tarpey has lived in the Geneva area since 1998. He is married and has two sons, one who graduated from La Châtaigneraie in May, 2010, and a second who is currently in the IB program there.
